The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
