The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
