The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
