The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On an open record. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 The roof raised high, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
