The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And the Book written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
