The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
