The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
