The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Book written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
