The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
