The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 No one can avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
