The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
