The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and the sea that is full 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
