The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
