The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
