The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And the Book written 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
