The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
