The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And the swollen sea 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
