The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
