The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 none can avert that. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
