The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
