The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
