The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
