The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 By the House Frequented. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
