The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the much-visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
