The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 By the book inscribed. 2 in an exposed parchment 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
