The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the House inhabited 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
