The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
