The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 No one can avert it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
