The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 No one can avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
