The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
