Therefore, remind. By the Favor of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor mad. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief. 36 Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]? 37 Have they a ladder up to heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listeners bring a clear proof. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up. 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
