EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or they allege, “He is a poet we await a calamity of the times to befall him.” 30 Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters." 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they speak truly. 34 Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
