Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time. 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief). 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Have they a ladder up to heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listeners bring a clear proof. 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
