Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time? 30 Say thou: wait verily I am, with you, among the waiters. 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or have they the means by which they listen? Then let their listener bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
