Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 Do they say: 'He has invented it' No, they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain. 36 Or have they the treasures of your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? 39 Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty? 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up." 44 So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror). 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
