Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.” 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Or, [if you believe in God, how can you believe that] He has [chosen to have] daughters, whereas you yourselves would have [only] sons? 39 Or is it that you ask of them any recompense so that they should fear to be weighed down under the burden of debt? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, "It is only dense cloud". 44 So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror 45 the day when their guile shall avail them naught, and they shall not be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
