Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars? 37 Or have they the means by which they listen? Then let their listener bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. We are watching over you. Glorify your Lord when you rise during the night 48 And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars. 49
