The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
