The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
