The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
