The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah – see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
