The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he approached and descended 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is Paradise. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
