The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the declining star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then came down close 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
