The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
