The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
