The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then came down close 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
