The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat the other third? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
