The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 and taught to him 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
