The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
