The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
